As a military wife, I should know by now to never say we are settled. Sometimes plans just have a way of changing and we just have to roll on through.
“Military life is having a plan. Then a new plan. Then another plan. Then the first plan. Then a brand new plan only to go back to the 2nd plan.”
I never posted publicly, but the past year, my husband was working in DC, attending The Eisenhower School. The boys and I stayed in Mt Pleasant hoping that at the end of his class, he would be able to come home. Well, at the end of the year he got an offer we couldn’t refuse at The Pentagon. So here we are, a few months later, settling into our home in Gainesville, VA. We are once again back in NOVA. The kids have started school, we are (mostly) unpacked and life has returned to a new normal…. once again.
It is bittersweet. It’s nice to have my husband back (and the kids love seeing their dad daily) but we miss pretty much everything about our hometown. We will be back eventually, so it’s not a goodbye, but more of a “see you later”. The boys are being resilient as always and they are all excited about snow and the perfect sledding hill in our backyard.
I’m slowly settling into the new routine and anxious to get a baby into my new studio space! It’s beautiful, simple and filled with light – just my style 😉 I look forward to meeting a lot of new families and babies in the DC area over the next few years.
So of course since we just made this huge move, I got a notice earlier this week that I was selected as one of the top newborn photographers in the Charleston area! I’m honored to be on the list with some amazing peers and I know they will take wonderful care of you all now that I’m gone. (link below to see the full list)
